Jadhav was reportedly urged to make the visit by Yuva Sena chief Aaditya Thackeray. At around 1.30 pm yesterday, the mayor reached the school premises and took stock of the situation.

The BMC had been using the playground of Telang Marg
Municipal school in Matunga as a dumping ground for
seized vehicles from the Sion-Koliwada region

"I spoke to the ward officer, who confirmed that the playground is being used to park vehicles towed from the Sion-Koliwada area.

I have asked them to make proper arrangements for the cars to be towed to Andheri, so the school grounds are free for the kids to play in," said Jadhav.

Sanjay Kurhade, officer of the F-North ward, said, "We will evacuate the playground in two days, and transport all the vehicles to Andheri.

The playground will no longer be used to dump vehicles. We will meet with senior officials to decide the future course of action."

Speaking to MiD DAY, Thackeray said, "I am glad that MiD DAY has been providing constructive criticism to the BMC. I was also heartened to see that the BMC took speedy action to address the matter."
