Pregnant woman suffers 100% burns in stove blast

A cylinder explosion in Jogeshwari's Behram Baug area last night charred the residents of the house where the incident took place.

Mohammed Rafique (30) and his wife Asma (23) suffered 60 and 100 per cent burns respectively when their cooking stove exploded around 11.30 pm. The couple's three-year-old daughter escaped injury, as she had left the house moments before the house caught fire.

Asma's brother, Ahmed, said, "The doctors have told me there's little chance of them surviving." Neighbours say there was no reason to suspect foul play and that Asma was two months pregnant. Doctors at Cooper Hospital said Asma's chances of survival are slim.
