A pall of gloom descended at the office where leaders cutting across the party lines offered floral tributes to the departed leader.

NCP leaders Praful Patel, Ajit Pawar, Jayant Patil and state unit chief Sunil Tatkare supervised the arrangements.

Baramati MP Supriya Sule consoled the grief-stricken family of Patil.

Patil's body will be taken in ambulance to his native place of Anjani in Tasgaon taluka of Sangli district tonight, where he will be cremated with state honour tomorrow afternoon.
