Around 6.45 pm, the trains began to ply till Ghatkopar, which brought some measure of relief to the commuters. However, the display boards on the platforms often did not specify where the trains were headed. Commuters to Ghatkopar often rushed to any train that entered the station only to discover that it was headed to Kurla. The ensuing confusion added to the commuters' inconvenience.

Worried passengers
Commuters waiting on the platforms for long-distance trains were even more harried, as they were unsure when their rain would depart.

They did not move from the platforms because they were worried that they would miss their trains if the services resumed. Most of them were unaware that their trains had been cancelled, as no announcements were being made on the public address system. Around 10 pm, the crowds on all the platforms thinned, as the Central Railway managed to get three trains running till Thane via Vashi every hour by then.u00a0
