If things are to be judged from the newly-inaugurated booklet that the BJP-Shiv Sena released listing out their achievements in the city before the upcoming civic polls, it would appear that BJP workers have forgotten their own city chief Raj Purohit.

Missing: The booklet that the BJP released yesterday at their
headquarters does not have city chief Raj Purohit's photograph

Yesterday, party workers from the BJP released a new booklet registering all the work they have done in the last five years. The booklet contains photographs of Sena head Balasaheb Thackeray, Sena Executive President Uddhav Thackeray, Republican Party of India chief Ramdas Athawale and even Aaditya Thackeray. But the most glaring omission was that of BJP city chief Raj Purohit. The photograph oversight left Purohit red-faced and he was forced to leave the conference held at the party's headquarter at Nariman Point midway. According to sources, the oversight is owing to the warring factions within the BJP.

The brochure was compiled by Ashish Shelar, who was one of the contenders for the post of city chief. A party leader said, "Purohit and Shelar are in different factions existing within the BJP. Internal conflicts like these hurt the party's image."

When MiD DAY asked Shelar about the issue, he said, "Purohit's photograph is on the CD made by the party and there is a picture of him inside the book. Hence, it is not an issue."

Meanwhile, the party came down heavily on ticket aspirants who were accused of providing their kin with poll tickets. "We won't give tickets to relatives of party members," said Sudhir Mungantiwar, BJP chief.
