A close associate of gangster Chhota Shakeel, Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, is likely to be extradited to Mumbai from Bangkok on Thursday, a crime branch official said.

"Three police officers who have flown to the Thailand capital last week will be back to Mumbai with Bhullar, against whom Red Corner Notice had been issued in December 2006, on Thursday," the officer said.

Bhullar, a sharpshooter of Shakeel gang, is wanted in several cases in the city, including those related to murder and attempt to murder.

Police Inspectors Shalini Sharma, Dilip Kale and Prashant Marde left for Bangkok to get the custody of the 31-year-old Bhullar, who was hiding there for few years.

Joint Police Commissioner Rakesh Maria had said that Bhullar was arrested by Thailand Police's Special Branch in November 2006 for opening fire at one Sayyed Rehman (31) of Indian origin and injuring him.

The firing incident was reported in May 25, 2003 in Bangkok. During investigation, Thai police realised Bhullar was staying in their country with a fake name, Iqbal. He had forged passport and other documents, police said.
