The daughter of a Shiv Sena corporator was allegedly thrashed by a woman in Kalyan on Saturday after an argument over the use of a garden attached to a housing society as play area escalated.

Sangeeta Rajesh Gawli, 34, daughter of Kalyan-Dombivli corporator Shushila Mali, 57, picked up an argument with Shashikala Singh, president of Anmol Garden, who had stopped her son from playing in the garden many times in the last four months.

"Whenever my son used to play there with other children, Singh stopped them," said Rajesh, Gawli's husband. On Saturday, when the child was stopped again, a quarrel ensued and Singh allegedly thrashed Gawli.

Kolshewadi cops said that a case has been filed.
