MHADA official Vaishali Chandan Singh confirmed that it was a cessed building and the permission for redevelopment had already been granted to a new architect.
However, she did not give any more details on the structural stability of the building stating that MHADA was investigating the matter.
According to Azhar Bangdiwala, a resident of adjacent building, the neighbourhood was alerted when they heard a big bang. "By the time I got out of my flat and climbed three floors down, the building had turned into a rubble."
