An IPS officer confirmed that senior inspector Vilas Gangawane has been transferred from Dongri police station to the Naigaon Local Arms (LA) division two days ago.
The woman, a resident of Nagpada, had met Gangawane for some work recently. After she shared her harassment with the senior officers, they immediately transferred Gangawane to Naigaon LA, which is considered as non-executive or side branch post.
She also produced some evidence that she had in her cell phone to the senior police officials to back her claims.
Police claimed that the transfer was done for administrative reasons and are not sharing details of the allegations made by the social worker. DCP spokesperson Sangramsingh Nishandar did not comment on the matter and Gangawane himself did not respond to phone calls and SMSes.
