Commissioner E Ravindran has advised residents to stay away until the buildings are declared safe by his staff
The Kalyan Dombivli Municipal Corporation (KDMC) wants to ensure Dombivli residents affected by the chemical factory blasts are not subjected to any more danger in their homes.

Commissioner E Ravindran has advised them to stay away until the buildings are declared safe. His staff will also conduct a structural audit of the buildings.
Ravindran said, “We are doing everything possible. Our staff is at the site and examining buildings. We will advise residents to return to the buildings only when they are safe. A structural audit would be done and our staff will examine the buildings. Our prerogative is to carry out the rescue operations at the earliest and clear the debris.”

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has also promised compensation to the residents. After visiting the injured at AIMS Hospital, the CM said, “We will carry out a thorough investigation in the matter. Our main agenda is to treat the injured and our condolences are with the family of the deceased. We will give all support needed to the people.” When asked what about compensation to residents of affected buildings, he said, “The state government will do it.”

Rajendra Devlekar, mayor, said, “The panchnama of the buildings will be carried out by the tehsildar and the state government should compensate them. I have asked the commissioner to look in to this.” Shrikant Shinde, local Shiv Sena MP said, “We will make arrangements for the residents in schools and other places where they can stay for the time being.”
Remove the factories
Politicians are now saying that factories should be moved out of the area Ravindra Chavan, BJP MLA from Dombivli says, “The chemical factories aren’t following the rules, and unskilled cheap labour is hired to handle these places. Most of the owners have leased the factories to others and repeated complaints have been made, but to no avail.” He added, “There is no buffer zone between the residential area and factories, this has to be looked into. These factories should be shifted to empty places as soon as possible.”
