A woman and a baby were killed and five others injured after a truck ran over them while they were sleeping on a footpath in South Mumbai in the wee hours today.

A woman and a baby were killed and five others injured after a truck ran over them while they were sleeping on a footpath in South Mumbai in the wee hours today.

The incident took place behind the Taj Hotel at Colaba at about 0135 hours when the driver of the truck lost control over the vehicle, police said.


The five-month-old baby was identified as Neerjala Kaley and the woman as 20-year-old Rajeshri D'Souza The injured were rushed to the nearby St George's hospital for treatment.



The driver Surendra Tahane has been arrested.
