Two killed in wall collapse in Thane

Thane: Two women were killed and three others injured in a wall collapse at Wangani near Badlapur today following heavy rains.

The incident took place in the Nagpure compound around 5 AM when the wall of a hut came crashing down due to heavy rains, burying two occupants, Ambernath Tehsildar Amit Sanap said. The deceased have been identified as Lata Sonawane (65) and Malsa Hatangle (28), he said A two-year-old child was seriously wounded in the mishap. All of them have been admitted to the Central hospital in Ulhasnagar, police said. Soon after the incident, firemen, local disaster control team and police rushed to the spot and began rescue operations, which are still on.
