A 40-year-old advocate from Ulhasnagar has registered a case against a tanker driver for pollution. He found the tanker was leaking a chemical on the road, and this could have led to an accident. According to police, the complainant, Prahlad Narayan Sonawane, said that he was riding home on February 5, at around 9:30pm near the Shahad 10 Jakat Naka, when he saw that a tanker ahead was leaking a chemical.

Sonawane said, "I sped up and informed the driver about the leak. But he didn't respond and sped away. The tanker jumped on speed breakers, resulting in sparks from the chemical. The chemical also went into my eyes causing vision issues for some time." He was accompanied by his colleague. Sonawane soon caught up with the tanker driver. He claimed he stopped him at the Jakat Naka and took him to a police station nearby.

A case has been registered at Ulhasnagar police station under Sections 337 (Causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) and 278 (Making atmosphere noxious to health) of the Indian Penal Code. "We have registered a case and will check how dangerous the chemical is, and whether it was being transported with permissions," said a senior official from Ulhasnagar police station.
