Looking after an international airport is no easy job. And when that stressful task is compounded by abandoned baggage that could be mistaken for a bomb officials at Mumbai airport are ready to tear their hair out.

Several passengers leave behind their check-in bags when they're unable to pay for the extra weight.
"We find two to three such bags daily. Most bags belong to passengers going abroad. Airlines charge Rs 1,000 per extra kilo.
Bomb disposal
Whenever an unidentified bag or a suspicious object is found by airport officials, it's immediately covered with a bomb suppression blanket.
If it's a bomb, the blanket will reduce its impact in case it blasts. Officers of the Bomb Detection Disposal Squad (BDDS)u00a0then check the object thoroughly to rule out a bomb threat.

"Our officers keep a check on the airport and anything suspicious is looked over. Many passengers also inform the airport manager about the bags left behind," said Negi.
