Shiney Ahuja's neighbour Adarsh Gupta recalls what happened on Sunday evening
June 14 was just another lazy Sunday for Adarsh Gupta, a resident of Tarapore Towers in Oshiwara till he heard a knock on his door in the evening.
When he opened the door, he saw his maid Rekha, accompanied by a young girl shaken and scared.
The girl, who worked as a maid at Shiney Ahuja's house on the seventh floor of the same building, told Gupta that the actor had raped her.

The two heard the girl's story, consoled her and then accompanied her to the police station.

"We acted as responsible citizens and provided assistance to the girl who was traumatised. We spoke to the girl and thought of taking her to the hospital.
But the hospital would not have treated her till the police were informed about the incident. Hence, we took her to the police station," said Gupta.
When asked about what he felt about Shiney, Gupta added, "I cannot say anything about the accused since the matter is sub judice."
The victim has mentioned in her statement that Shiney had locked her inside his room after forcing himself on her.

She managed to leave only when Rekha came to his residence. Other residents of the building are stunned with the accusations and are not willing to believe that Shiney could commit such a heinous crime.
Can't be true
"Shiney is a married man and has been living here for the past six years. He can never be involved in such an act.
He has been a respectable member of our society and was active in all functions," said Madhukar Pandey, who stays on the sixth floor of the building.

Rajesh Elawadhi said, "We have had many family get-togethers and know him very well. He will never do such an act.
It is impossible for him to commit such a crime." Some women from the building who were shocked to know about his involvement in the rape said he was a good human being.

The police tried a different trick to keep Shiney away from the media yesterday afternoon.
They accompanied the actor in the police van from the Andheri lock up, but two constables got down near Infinity mall and took him in a rickshaw to the Oshiwara police station.
