A woman and her two daughters were run over by a moving train between Titwala and Ambivali railway stations in Thane district on Saturday, police said.
The Government Railway Police (GRP) said they are investigating whether the trio was crossing the railway tracks at the time of the accident.
The deceased have been identified as Maltidevi (25), Nancy (4) and Sanajan (one-and-half-year-old). Their bodies have been sent to the government hospital for postmortem.
