Self-proclaimed Islamic preacher Zakir Naik’s father Dr Abdul Karim Naik passed away early this morning. Unfortunately, Naik could not attend his father’s funeral. Dr Naik, who was a physician and educationist, suffered a cardiac arrest around 3.30 am, from which he could not recover. He was 87 years old.

Arif Malik, Islamic Research Foundation (IRF) spokesperson said, “Naik could not attend his father’s funeral, not even through Skype. His father was admitted in the ICU for the past couple of days. He breathed his last around 3.30 am. He was buried at the Nariyal Wadi kabrastan after Zohar prayers. I don’t know where exactly Zakir Naik is at the moment, but I think he is in Saudi Arabia.”
A senior IRF spokesperson Manzoor Shaikh told mid-day, “Naik is in Malaysia on a lecture tour. We took his father to the Nariyal Wadi kabrastan around 11:30am. Everything happened within a very short span of time, hence he could not come.”
Naik’s close friend Athar Khan said, “I am not aware whether he attended the funeral through Skype.”
