Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray on Friday paid his last respects to former party corporator Abhishek Ghosalkar, who was shot dead a day ago, reported the PTI.

According to the PTI, Uddhav Thackeray, along with his wife Rashmi and son Aaditya Thackeray, a former minister, visited the residence of Abhishek Ghosalkar at Dahisar in north Mumbai.

Abhishek Ghosalkar's father Vinod Ghosalkar is a former MLA and deputy leader of Sena (UBT), while his wife is also a former corporator of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).

Abhishek Ghosalkar was shot dead on Thursday evening during a 'Facebook Live' by a local 'social activist' Mauris Noronha, who also ended his own life.

Abhishek Ghosalkar was cremated on Friday in the presence of top Sena (UBT) leaders.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on Friday described the murder of Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Abhishek Ghosalkar during a 'Facebook Live' as 'wrong and unfortunate' and assured that a detailed probe will be conducted to find out what led to the crime, as per PTI.

A viral video of the incident, which took place at assailant Mauris Noronha's office in IC Colony in the northern suburb of Borivali (West) on Thursday evening, showed Ghosalkar being shot in the abdomen and shoulder. Within moments, Noronha also killed himself.

The probe has been handed over to the Mumbai Crime Branch.

"It was wrong and unfortunate. Such incidents should not happen in the state. The conversation between the two during the live-streaming seemed friendly. Looking at the conversation, their relationship also looked cordial," Ajit Pawar told reporters in Pune.

A day after the incident, Mumbai Police on Friday said that it has arrested Mauris Noronha's bodyguard, whose pistol was used in Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena (UBT) ex-corporator Abhishek Ghosalkar's murder. Abhishek Ghosalkar was shot dead on Thursday evening during a 'Facebook Live' by a local 'social activist' Mauris Noronha.

The Mumbai Crime Branch, which is probing the case, had detained bodyguard Amarendra Mishra for questioning earlier in the day.

He was booked under section 29 (B) of the Arms Act which deals with the offence of handing over a weapon to someone without ascertaining if the person is legally permitted to possess it, an official said, the PTI reported.
