A team of LeT assassins, including a woman, is in the state to target the Gujarat CM, who will visit Jalna later this week

The state has launched a massive hunt for a female militant, who is reportedly part of a group of three assassins, assigned to target Gujarat CM Narendra Modi during his visit to Jalna later this week.

Intelligence inputs indicate that the three militants, believed to be members of the Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), have already set up base in Jalna. They are expected to mingle with the crowd before closing in on the target.u00a0

The report about a female militant among the assassins comes in the wake of a recent intelligence report indicating that a group of trained women terrorists have slipped into the country through the porous borders in Gujarat and Jammu and Kashmir. State police agencies across the country have been on high alert after receiving the information.

The three militants have reportedly undergone training in terror camps across the border. The inputs reveal that they hatched the plot in Bihar before slipping into Madhya Pradesh. They reached MP by train and travelled by road to Jalna.

Director General of Police S S Virk said all precautions have been taken to ensure Modi's safety during the trip. "Along with his personal security force, Modi will also be provided with Z-plus category security," said Virk.

Not the first time for Modi
Modi has been on the hit list of terror outfits in the aftermath of the Gujarat carnage in 2002. And this is not the first time that he is under threat in Maharashtra. In January, he was whisked away from Jalgaon to Aurangabad and flown out of the state after reports of an alleged terror threat.
