Thane reports nine new Covid-19 cases; total tally reaches 103

The Thane city in Maharashtra on Saturday reported nine new Covid-19 cases, taking the overall number of confirmed cases to 103, the civic officials said.

According to the civic body, nine new Covid-19 cases were reported on May 31, bringing the total number of cases to 103 so far.


Out of these, 35 patients have completed their five-day home isolation period and are recovering well.



Currently, 16 patients are admitted to hospitals, and all are reported to be in stable condition. Among them, 13 are being treated in private hospitals, while 3 patients are admitted to Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Hospital in Kalwa.

As many as 51 patients were under home isolation, and their health is also said to be stable, the civic body said.

Earlier, on Friday, May 30, Maharashtra had reported 84 new Covid-19 cases, taking the tally of cases registered since the start of the year to 681, the state public health department said, reported the PTI.

Most of the coronavirus patients found in state have mild symptoms and people should not panic, it said in a press release, according to the PTI.

Of the new cases, 32 were detected in Mumbai, two in Thane district, 14 in Thane Municipal Corporation limits, one in Navi Mumbai, one in Kalyan-Dombivli Municipal Corporation, two in Raigad district, one in Panvel, one in Nashik city, one in Pune district, 19 in Pune Municipal Corporation, three in Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation, two in Satara, one in Kolhapur district, one in Kolhapur Municipal Corporation, and three in Sangli Municipal Corporation limits, the department said, as per the PTI.

There are 467 active cases in the state, while the number of cases in Mumbai since January 2025 stood at 411.

Meanwhile, India's Covid-19 tally has reached 2,710 active cases, with 1,170 patients discharged, as per the Union Health Ministry, reported the ANI.

India reported seven deaths across multiple states, with comorbidities playing a significant role in most cases, according to state-wise data.

Kerala recorded the most number of Covid-19  cases with 1,147 active cases, and reconciliation of mortality figures is ongoing, as per the ANI.

Maharashtra reported two Covid-related deaths, both the deceased had major underlying health conditions. One case included a 67-year-old male who suffered with severe respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS), along with left lung Pneumonia, and cerebrovascular accident. In another case a 21-year-old male who suffered from diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA) and lower respiratory tract infection (LRTI), according to the ANI.
