Mayor’s Vision

Outlining her priorities during her address after being elected in February this year, Mumbai Mayor Ritu Tawde highlighted prioritising pedestrians with better footpath infrastructure and removing unauthorised hawkers across the city.

Official Speak

‘Thousands of unauthorised hawkers have been removed. We will continue taking action. To take the concept of creating an uninterrupted walkway forward, we have planned a survey of licensed hawkers who have created permanent or semi-permanent structures on the footpath.

We will then figure out which is the nearest road where they can be moved in a cluster. Several shops that have protruding tin roofs or displays covering footpaths will be standardised in the next stage’

Vinayak Vispute, assistant commissioner, G North ward
