The Tilak Nagar police have booked two people for cheating a housewife on pretext of giving her remdisivir injections for Rs 18,000. The woman was desperately seeking the injection for a relative. The accused offered her the injection at lower than market rate and also assured that he would deliver it to her doorstep.
Tilak Nagar resident Meghna Thakkar had somehow got in touch with one Rupesh Gupta when she was looking for remdesivir. He assured her he would give it to her for Rs 18,000 and Thakkar told her friend Chetan Mistry to pay the amount.
On April 19, Thakkar received a parcel from a delivery person at home. When she opened the package, she found a vial that was not remdesivir inside it. Thakkar rushed to the Tilak Nagar police station and complained about the incident.
According to the complaint, “We have registered an offence under IPC Section 420 (cheating) and 34 (common intention) against Rupesh Gupta and one delivery person. We are yet to make any arrests,” said Sunil Kale, senior inspector, Tilak Nagar police station.
