Central Railway has announced a mega block on its Mumbai suburban sections on Sunday, November 2, to carry out essential engineering and maintenance works. The administration has appealed to commuters to plan their travel accordingly, as several train services will be either diverted or cancelled during the block period.

On the UP and DOWN Slow lines between Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) Mumbai and Vidyavihar, the block will be in effect from 10.55 am to 3.55 pm. During this period, DOWN Slow services departing from CSMT Mumbai between 10.48 am and 3.45 pm will be diverted to the DOWN Fast line between CSMT Mumbai and Vidyavihar, halting at Byculla, Parel, Dadar, Matunga, Sion, and Kurla stations before rejoining the DOWN Slow line at Vidyavihar. Similarly, UP Slow services departing from Ghatkopar between 10.19 am and 3.52 pm will be diverted to the UP Fast line, halting at Kurla, Sion, Matunga, Dadar, Parel, and Byculla stations.

On the Harbour Line between Kurla and Vashi, the block will operate from 11.10 am to 4.10 pm. The DOWN Harbour line services to Vashi, Belapur, and Panvel, leaving CSMT Mumbai from 10.34 am to 3.36 pm and UP Harbour line services towards CSMT Mumbai, leaving Panvel, Belapur, and Vashi from 10.17 am to 3.47 pm, will remain cancelled.

To assist passengers during the block, special suburban trains will operate on the CSMT–Kurla and Panvel – Vashi sections. Additionally, Harbour line passengers will be permitted to travel between Thane and Vashi/Nerul stations from 10 am to 6 pm.

Dr Swapnil Nila, Central Railway Chief Public Relations Officer, requested passengers to bear with the administration for the inconvenience, emphasising that the maintenance mega blocks are crucial for infrastructure upkeep and safety.

The Western Railway (WR) will operate a five-hour jumbo block between Churchgate and Mumbai Central (local) stations on Sunday (November 2) to facilitate essential maintenance work on tracks, signalling, and overhead equipment.

According to a press release issued by WR Chief Public Relations Officer (CPRO) Vineet Abhishek, the block will be in effect from 10.35 am to 3.35 pm. During this period, all Fast-line trains will run on Slow lines between Churchgate and Mumbai Central (local) stations.
