A portion of the compound wall at Banganga Lake in south Mumbai's Walkeshwar area on Sunday collapsed, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) said, adding that no injuries were reported in the incident.
Banganga Lake is a well-known heritage site in south Mumbai.
According to the Mumbai civic body, around 10 to 15 feet of the wall near Mahalakshmi Mandir collapsed and the incident was reported to the BMC on Sunday late evening.
"No injuries have been reported in the incident," officials said.

Banganga Lake is considered a sacred and historical, drawing both tourists and devotees. It is believed to have been built in the 12th century, is a sacred water tank that forms part of the Walkeshwar Temple complex. It is considered one of the oldest heritage sites in Mumbai.
Concrete slab collapses at bus stand in Nashik district; no injuries
Meanwhile, in an another incident, a concrete slab forming part of the roof of a bus stand collapsed in Maharashtra's Nashik district amid heavy rains on Sunday evening, an official said, reported the PTI.
No one was injured in the incident in Sinnar town, though the falling debris damaged a state transport bus, he said.
Officials said heavy showers began lashing Sinnar and nearby areas around 3 pm.
Around 5.30 pm, a roof slab of the bus stand in the town collapsed on a Shiv Shahi bus, operated by Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC), damaging it, police said, according to the PTI.
Passengers at the bus stand were asked to vacate the area, and the authorities engaged workers to clear the debris. Regular bus operations were not affected, said an official.
Meanwhile, heavy rain caused traffic congestion and waterlogging in Sinnar town.
Parts of Maharashtra including Mumbai has been witnessing heavy rains.
According to the weather department, the southwest monsoon arrived in Maharashtra on Sunday, making it the earliest onset of the annual rainfall season over the state in 35 years.
The southwest monsoon is expected to advance to Mumbai and some other parts over the next three days, the IMD added.
