On Monday morning, a 24-year-old man who had jumped into the Mithi River for a swim never came back out, according to locals. The incident occurred in the Valmiki Nagar area of Bandra West on Monday morning. Vardan Anand Janjotar went to the river, intending to swim in the rising waters around Kanakya Palace building near BKC Bridge. He never surfaced, say local residents.

Based on information provided by locals, the BKC fire brigade and the police were immediately reached the spot. Rescue work is underway in the river area and at the time of going to press, the fire brigade was conducting a search operation for Janjotar.
