Mumbai reeled under yet another spell of intense monsoon showers on Monday morning, as several parts of the city recorded heavy rainfall in just four hours between 8 AM and 12 PM. Data from the municipal rain gauges revealed that areas in Chembur, Worli, Dadar, and Parel bore the brunt of the downpour, with figures crossing the 100 mm mark at multiple locations.
Topping the chart was the Chembur Fire Station, which logged a staggering 140.80 mm, followed closely by Rainfall Pipeline BMC at 139.60 mm. Both readings underline the intensity of showers in central and eastern Mumbai.
The B. Nadkarni Park Municipal School in Wadala and the Worli Sea Face Municipal School were next in line, each recording 133.20 mm, while the Savitribai Phule Municipal School at Worli Naka reported 130.40 mm. Adding to Worli’s heavy tally, the Adarsh Nagar School also saw 128.80 mm.
Other locations recorded slightly lower but still noteworthy figures. The Frozberry Reservoir at F South Office measured 118.80 mm, the City Institute of Disaster Management in Parel and the District Collector Colony Municipal School in Chembur both reported 116.80 mm, and the F South Ward Office in Parel rounded off the list with 113.53 mm.
With multiple neighbourhoods inundated in just a short window, the data reflects how Mumbai’s monsoon continues to remain unpredictable and highly localised, often disrupting daily life within hours.
