Mumbai saw a marginal drop in daily infections with 20,318 cases being registered on Saturday.  On Friday, 20,971 cases were recorded.

The test positivity rate (TPR) also saw a dip at 28.60 per cent; five deaths were reported.  This is the second consecutive day that the TPR is seeing a dip. Health experts said they will wait and watch the situation to ascertain if the daily cases and TPR rise, dip or remain constant.

While four of the Covid fatalities had comorbidities, one was in the age group of 40-60 years of age. The silver lining is that more than 80 per cent of the positive patients on Saturday were asymptomatic.

According to a report shared by the BMC, there was a marginal dip in hospitalisation on Saturday with 1,257 admissions. The recovery rate continued to fall and was at 86 percent as 6,003 patients were discharged. The doubling rate currently stands at 47 days.

The state saw close to a 500 jump in new cases as 41,434 cases were reported in Maharashtra on Saturday. The state also saw 13 deaths.
