After experiencing light spells of rain during the early days of the week, Mumbai on Thursday experienced a sunny morning. Clear skies and sunny weather during the early hours of Thursday raised the temperature.

Although the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday, November 6, has predicted partly cloudy skies with the possibility of occasional light spells of rain in the city and suburbs, the weather across the city looks quite decent.

The Indian Meteorological Department further highlighted that maximum and minimum temperatures in Mumbai are likely to be around 34 degrees Celsius to 22 degrees Celsius, indicating a slight hike in the mercury.

Mumbai’s AQI stays in the ‘good’ category

Amid the concerning air quality index all across the country, Mumbai has surprisingly observed good air quality with less smog, assuring a healthy atmosphere for breathing. However, on Thursday, November 6, the Central Pollution Control Board’s SAMEER app reported in its latest Mumbai weather updates that the city’s air quality is in the 'satisfactory' category, with an Air Quality Index (AQI) of 84 at 8.05 AM on Thursday.

The slight inclination in the AQI of Mumbai was observed due to the rising air pollutants on the night of ‘Dev Diwali’, which was celebrated on the night of November 5.

As per the SAMEER app dashboard, many areas across Mumbai showed 'good' AQI. Colaba, Mazgaon, Borivali, Sion and Mulund recorded 'good' air quality, with an AQI of 36, 98, 41, 73 and 81, respectively.

Meanwhile, Deonar, Malad, Andheri East and Kandivali also recorded 'good' and ‘satisfactory’ air quality, with an AQI of 137, 95, 83 and 71, respectively.

According to data from the SAMEER app, Navi Mumbai recorded air quality in the 'good' category with an AQI of 85, while Thane registered a 'good' AQI of 72.

The air quality index from 0 to 100 is considered 'good', 100 to 200 'moderate', 200 to 300 'poor', 300 to 400 'very poor' and 400 to 500 or above 'severe'.

Meanwhile, there was no respite from pollution woes in Delhi on Thursday as well, with air quality in the 'poor' category with a reading of 271.

However, four stations -- Alipur (282), Shadipur (240), Punjabi Bagh (293) and Lodhi Road (241)-- recorded air quality in the 'poor' category. Multiple monitoring stations recorded 'very poor' air quality with readings above 200, the Central Pollution Control Board's (CPCB) Sameer app showed.

The minimum temperature in Delhi settled at 18.4 degrees Celsius, 1.7 degrees above the season's average, while the humidity was recorded at 92 per cent. The maximum temperature is likely to hover around 30.4 degrees Celsius, with the weather department forecasting a partly cloudy sky.
