Mumbai saw a marginal dip in new COVID-19 cases on Friday along with a rise in the test positivity rate (TPR) and fatalities due to the infection. As per the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) report, 446 new cases were reported on Friday along with six deaths. The TPR was 1.22 per cent. While five of the deceased had comorbidities, two were in the age group of 40-60 years and four were above 60 years of age.
The doubling rate dipped and was 1,187 days on Friday. The city’s recovery rate remained constant at 97 per cent as 430 people were discharged after full recovery on Friday.
The state’s COVID-19 cases saw a marginal drop on Friday. As per the state health department report, 3,286 cases were reported. Maharashtra saw a dip in the number of deaths at 51. The state’s case fatality rate remained constant at 2.12 per cent as 3,933 people were discharged after full recovery. The state has 38,491 active cases.
The Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) saw a marginal dip in cases on Friday. As per the state report, 933 cases were reported in the MMR including those from Mumbai.
Apart from Mumbai, Thane Municipal Corporation reported the maximum number of daily cases in the MMR at 88. It was followed by Raigad with 76 cases. While Navi Mumbai saw 74 cases, Thane witnessed 30 cases and Mira-Bhayandar 32 cases. Vasai-Virar had 56 cases and Panvel reported 55 cases.
The MMR, excluding Mumbai, registered five COVID-19 fatalities on Friday. Two deaths were reported in Ulhasnagar and one each in Vasai-Virar, Navi Mumbai and Mira-Bhayandar.
