Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) on Monday announced a 18-hour water supply disruption in some parts of the city on November 4 to carry out maintenance works.

The NMMC said that it will carry out essential maintenance works on the city’s water pipeline network.

"The supply will be suspended from 9 am on November 4 until 3 am on November 5, an official statement said.

It said that the water cut is required to install new valves and connect a recently laid pipeline to the Master Balancing Reservoir (MBR) at the Bhokarpada Water Treatment Plant.

According to the NMMC, the maintenance is part of ongoing efforts to improve the city’s water distribution system and ensure a more reliable supply in the months ahead.

In a post on X, the NMMC stated that nearly ten major localities, including Belapur, Nerul, Vashi, Turbhe, Sanpada, Koparkhairane, Ghansoli, Airoli, Kharghar, and Kamothe, will be affected. Residents are advised to store sufficient water in advance and use it sparingly during the outage.

It said that while services are expected to resume on Wednesday morning, water pressure may remain low during peak hours.

The civic body has requested the citizens to cooperate during the maintenance work period.

Meanwhile, last week, the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) had announced a 24-hour water supply shutdown in several parts of the city on Saturday, November 1, to carry out essential infrastructure work aimed at improving the city’s water distribution network.

According to the civic body, the shutdown will impact areas under the Vartak Nagar and Lokmanya Savarkar Nagar ward committees. The disruption is necessary to commission a newly laid 1,168 mm diameter water main connected to the Indiranagar pump — a key component of Thane’s water supply system.

To facilitate the integration work, the TMC’s water supply department will also install a valve on the 750 mm main pipeline at Nitin Company Junction. As a result, water supply will remain completely suspended for 24 hours from 9 am on Saturday, November 1, to 9 am on Sunday, November 2, the TMC had earlier stated.

Areas including Indiranagar, Srinagar, Waralipada, Kailasnagar Reno Tank, Rupadevi, Rupadevi Reno Tank, Ramnagar, Yeoor Air Force area, and Lokmanya area were affected.
