The IMD has predicted a generally cloudy sky for the day with a high probability of thunderstorms. Residents have been advised to remain cautious, especially in low-lying and flood-prone areas
According to the civic body, a high tide of 3.50 metres was recorded at 7.48 am and of 2.90 metres at 7.27 pm. A low tide of 2.27 metres occurred at 2.06 pm on Tuesday, while another is expected at 2 am on Wednesday at 1.44 metres
In the 24-hour period from 8 am on Monday, Mumbai city recorded 39.35 mm of rainfall, while the eastern suburbs received 35.17 mm, and the western suburbs recorded 40.34 mm, according to IMD data
Meanwhile, the water levels in the lakes supplying drinking water to Mumbai have seen a significant rise due to rainfall in their catchment areas
With more showers expected through the day, civic authorities are on alert, and citizens have been advised to check official updates before venturing out
