'He sexually exploited me'

The complainant Rekha (name changed) has been working with the St John's Hospital for the past three years. Last year, in November, the hospital had Krupananda Reddy, a 29-year-old patient from her hometown Madanapalli. While treating the patient, Rekha fell for him and the two started exchanging messages.

Two months later the love blossomed and the two expressed their love towards each other. Rekha said, "I am from a scheduled caste, which he was well aware of, that never came in the way of our growing friendship. As I had trusted him blindly, I would accompany him wherever he took me, as he had promised a wedding."

Rekha accompanied Reddy to Ooty for three days in February, five days in April to Ooty, twice to a hotel in Electronic City in May, another hotel in Koramngala in June twice, more than four times to a lodge in JP Nagar in July.

Rekha said, "He sexually exploited me every time he took me out. I reside in a hostel here, and using my hostel address as proof, he even bought a new bike, for which I paid the advance amount."

The trust soon broke when Rekha asked Reddy to marry her in October this year. "He said he should take his parent's permission. His parents called me up and scolded me for even thinking about it, since I hail from a different community" Rekha added.

Reddy even tried to pacify Rekha and sent his friend Janannathan to convince her not to take any steps against him.

"He promised me that he would convince Reddy's family members for a wedding, and took away all pictures of him that I had. Please suggest me what to do," Rekha pleaded before the Koramangala police.

The Koramangala police have registered a cheating case against both Reddy and Jaganathan. "An investigation is going on to trace their whereabouts," said a police official.
