Allege anti-corruption branch officials whose office near the Assembly is facing long powercuts

Let there be light. Yet there was no light.

And not very far from there, khadi-clad netas were deciding upon the expenditure of the public exchequer in the centrally air-conditioned hall of the Vidhan Sabha. The anti-graft cops of the city are facing the heat, quite literally as their office in the vicinity of the Assembly building - is going without power ever since the Budget session of the House has started.

The officials alleged that the power is being supplied to the Assembly while they have to face long disruptions in the 40 degrees Celsius heat of Delhi.

Sources in the branch alleged that the condition was no different last year. There was no supply of power and the officials worked the entire day in darkness and in the sweltering heat, they said.u00a0 The anti-corruption officials had also written to the government about their problem but nothing has been done about it, so far.

"The electricity sometimes goes off in the area if there is a shut down in the system. So far we have not got any complaint of this nature. Now, we will definitely look into it," said a New Delhi Power Limited spokesperson.
Reacting to the allegations that the power is being diverted to the Assembly, the spokesperson said,
"Technically, it is not possbile. If there is any cut it happens in the enitre area."

The Budget session of the Delhi Assembly, which commenced on June 15, will continue till July 1.
