Shrinivas Mahadu Gaikwad (15) and Manthan Anil Devkule (16), both residents of Kashiwadi at Bhavani Peth, were on Shankarshet Road when they rammed into the bus while trying to overtake another one.

Police said the duo was heading to Jedhe Chowk and while trying to overtake a PMPML bus plying in the same direction, their two-wheeler came under another ST bus coming head-on. The impact was so grave that the vehicle slid under the front two wheels of the ST bus, and Devkule died on the spot. A gravely injured Gaikwad passed away after reaching the hospital.

Khadak police have booked ST driver Vijay Patil (37), resident of Karad, Satara, under various sections of Indian Penal Code and Motor Vehicles Act. “Both the victims were minors and were riding a scooter on BRT route where they met with an accident with an ST bus coming head-on from near Vega Centre building. We have booked Patil, as he was driving the bus rashly, which resulted in the death of the kids,” said Inspector R L Kadam.u00a0
