Former Chief Minister and PDP president Mehbooba Mufti conducted a spirited roadshow despite inclement weather conditions at Mendhar Poonch in Jammu and Kashmir. She is contesting for the Anantnag-Rajouri Lok Sabha seat, with the polls scheduled for May 7 in the third phase of the Lok Sabha Elections 2024.

Expressing gratitude on her social media platform, Mufti stated, "Overwhelmed by the love & affection of people who welcomed me despite heavy rains. Jeet humari Inshallah (If God wills)."

She further asserted, "Roadshow at Mendhar, Poonch. We forge ahead."

During a previous roadshow in the Anantnag area, Mufti emphasised that this election cuts beyond party lines, stressing on the subject of employment scarcity. She went on to say, "This election is not a battle between PDP and National Conference, but a bid to raise the voice against jobs being captured."

On April 19, the PDP leader published the party's 2024 general election manifesto, promising to prioritise women's and youth empowerment.

While voting for the Udhampur Lok Sabha constituency took place in Phase 1 on April 19 and for Jammu in Phase 2 on April 26, voting for the Srinagar and Baramulla Lok Sabha constituencies is slated for May 13 and 20, respectively.

Ladakh no longer has a separate Lok Sabha constituency because Jammu and Kashmir were reorganised into two Union Territories. In the 2019 elections, the BJP won three seats and the National Conference won the other three. The vote count and results will be released on June 4.

Despite being allies in the opposition alliance INDIA bloc, the PDP and NC have decided to run for Lok Sabha seats independently in Jammu & Kashmir.

The ongoing general elections are being held in seven stages over six weeks, culminating on June 27. The first and second phases of voting were held on April 19 and April 26, respectively, and the next round is set for May 7. The counting and declaration of results will occur on June 4.
