Delhi restaurants are planning to extend happy hours to welcome CWG athletes and tourists

Get ready for extended happy hours at the restro-bars of the Capital during the upcoming Commonwealth Games as several night-out joints are chalking out ways to increase footfalls during the event.

"Usually the timings of our happy hours are from 2 pm till 7.30 pm, which will be extended by an hour and a half during the games because that would increase the footfall by approximately 25 per cent. Primarily, the concept of happy hours is one on one free, but we're also rolling out different price plans for draught beer lovers since people from western countries prefer beer more than any other form of liquor," said Siddharth, DJ and owner of Caf ufffd Morrison at South Extension. In most of the lounge bars in Connought Place, which is highly corporate in profile, happy hours end at 7 pm because that's when corporates walk in for a few drinks. The 7 pm 'unofficial' deadline of happy hours will be extended further.

The owner of Sequel by United at Defence Colony, Akassh Kalra said, "In all our outlets in Defence Colony, Punjabi Bagh and Connought Place, happy hours will start at noon and will continue up till 8 pm, which is eight hours of reduced prices. Apart from extending happy hours, specially priced combo deals are also being looked at as an option to increase the revenue."

"If eateries can frame menu which is affordable, I don't see a reason why revenue shouldn't increase," he said. Some of the other places where drinks would come cheap are Shooters, WOW (Connought Place) and Delhi Heights (Rajouri Garden) and Double Decker (South Extension).

"Happy hour prices at our premises will commence at noon and will end at one in the morning, which we think is the maximum offered by any other lounge. However, the format of happy hour will be different with us. Instead of buy-one-get-one free, we'll offer buy one pitcher and get another free," said the manager of a leading restro-bar in the city.
