A total of five people have been arrested in connection with the vandalism at Presidency University in Kolkata earlier this week.

With three more people getting arrested, the number of people held for vandalism at Presidency University earlier this week has gone up to five.

"We have arrested three more persons. A total of five persons have been arrested," Joint Commissioner of Police (Hq) Javed Shamim said.u00a0

Shamim, however, did not elaborate on the political affiliations of those arrested.

Persons reportedly carrying Trinamool Congress flags had vandalised Baker Laboratory and other departments, beat up some students and abused girl students.

This was to protest the heckling of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and manhandling of Finance Minister Amit Mitra in Delhi on April 9.u00a0
