AAP is just a 'momentary phase', says Nitin Gadkari

AAP-BJP have locked horns with Aam Aadmi Party’s Nagpur Lok Sabha candidate Anjali Damania submitting documents exposing former BJP chief Nitin Gadkari’s corruption when he chaired Purti Group.

Gadkari rubbished the chances of AAP playing a decisive role in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. While addressing the media on Sunday, he referred to AAP as a just a ‘momentary phase’. He said, “When there is massive outrage against the present political establishments, the phase of change does arrive in politics. However, such phases are always temporary and AAP is nothing but a phase which is momentary,” said Gadkari.

Replying to the questions raised on Damania’s claims of the nexus between him and Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar, Gadkari said that he doesn’t care what others says about him.

Meanwhile, it seems that not all is well between Gadkari and deputy opposition leader in Lok Sabha Gopinath Munde. As the later is in favour of making the state roads toll free, Gadkari said that it is not an economical or practical option. Gadkari said that although the state has accepted the policy of charging tolls, this decision was taken in restrain.

“Bringing in private investment while building highways was necessary, otherwise it would not be possible for the state government to build the roads on their own. However, if the agreement made with the private contractors was overruled, it might possible for private companies to drag the government to court,” said Gadkari.

Taking a dig at long time political opponent from his own party, Gadkari said that Munde must have studied the economic model. Recently while addressing the media in Mumbai, Munde stated that roads of the state should be toll free.
