If you wonder where the Gods reside, check out Galleria Mystica, where you can get handmade sculptures of religious deities. WHAT's ON was amazed at the range on offer

Galleria Mystica may be located in Koregaon Park but it seems to belong to another world altogether. The store offers mystical sculptures, which can add a dash of spirituality to your home.

Owned by Rajesh and Bhagwati Narang, Galleria Mystica is dedicated to Osho's vision of creativity and the ancient art of Indian sculpture. "I study books of various civilizations and cultures which help me conceive a design. Then, I discuss the concept with my artists and that is how a piece comes alive," says Rajesh Narang.

The sculptures are made in Rajasthan, Mahabalipuram, Delhi and Gujarat.u00a0

Ambience: The entrance gives an inkling of what to expect inside. There are huge statues of Buddha and Ganesha placed at the entrance to greet you. As you step in, the soft tinkling of wind chimes beckons you. The interiors of the store may not boast of vast spaces, but what is available is used wisely. Done up in white with appropriate lighting, the place is filled with statues of all conceivable shapes and sizes.

Range: The shop presents an exclusive collection of handmade sculptures, which have become the centerpiece of many homes, offices and gardens. The artefacts are made using either stone or wood. Earlier, they used metal as well, but since it was very common, they discontinued the production. The art-work and the designs are intricate and well-defined. Among the sculptures, the marble ones are the most expensive while sandstone is the most popular.

Visit the store and you can come across sculptures of gods, goddesses, danseuses, and figurines from Khajuraho. Check out the unique Buddha series which depicts the deity in his various moods. You might even chance upon some interesting tribal art and abstract sculptures as well. They also stock crystals for Reiki and crystal healing.

We liked:u00a0 A statue of Zen Buddha carved out of soft stone was conceptualised and inspired by the Zen school of Mahayana Buddhism. A statue of a Tibetan God in sand stone is very eye catching. Do not miss the statue of Kuanyin, the Chinese counterpart of Lord Indra.
