BJP leader LK Advani on Tuesday sought to dismiss differences between party chief Rajnath Singh and general secretary Arun Jaitley as a 'minor issue' even as the lawyer-turned-politician continued to skip crucial party meetings to finalise Lok Sabha candidates.
"It (differences) is a minor issue," Advani said here when asked about Jaitley's open opposition to the appointment of Sudhanshu Mittal as the co-convenor of north-eastern states.
Advani had yesterday dismissed suggestions of differences, saying "this issue may make a good story for you but there are no differences within the party".
Jaitley had shown his displeasure at Mittal's appointment by keeping away from the Central Election Committee meeting of the BJP on March 13 and today.
Sources close to Jaitley maintain that he was not likely to attend the meetings if Mittal is not removed.
However, Jaitley has gone about his other duties, including discussing seat-sharing with JD(U) for Bihar, for the party.
Singh's camp is said to have ruled out revocation of Mittal's appointment.
