Chief minister BS Yediyurappau00a0announced this at a private function today. Earlier the government was considering DGP (fire force) Jija Hari Singh for the post. Sinceu00a0her name cropped up in a Lokayukta report, the government dropped her name in the last minute.

Dr Ajai Kumar Singh when contacted said that he is very greatful to the government for having faith in him to consider him for the post.
Bad Luck for Jija
Luck never favoured Jija Hari Singh as she was never considered for important posts. Few years ago, her name wasu00a0being considered for the Bangalore city police commissioner's post but was again dropped in the last minute.
The recent Lokayukta report alleged that Jija Hari Singh, who was heading Mysore Minerals Limited duringu00a0Dharam Singh's rule, facilitated illegal mining on agricutural land that led tou00a0losses worth Rs 299 crore.
