No inter-college sports tournaments in 2010
The only sports at Delhi University this year was courtesy the Commonwealth Games for which the Organising Committee took over some of the major stadiums at the varsity.

Apart from that, for the first time in the history of DU, no inter-college competitions were held in a whole year. As per university norms, the General Body meeting with the heads of colleges that decides the dates and fixtures of the sports events in August has not been called yet.
"It is a complete haphazard situation. The sports director has retired; there are no deputy directors, no leadership at all. Also, the university grounds have still not been handed over to respective colleges by the CWG Organising Committee. The bump-out process is to go on till March. No inter-college sports are likely this year," said S Chakraborty, Sports Head, St Stephen's College.
As per university sources, a group of teachers including sports heads and executive members visited the vice-chancellor to discuss the situation recently. "We are working on the problem. We've already had a meeting on the issue. The mandate for the entire process would be announced soon. The circumstances have been awkward this time, but we are sure to conduct some inter-college sports as soon as the semester exams get over," said Prof Dinesh Singh, vice-chancellor, Delhi University.u00a0
u00a0"We have our own independent sports meets outside as we cannot use the college playground yet. Since the past two years we go for our cricket practice to a ground in Mori Gate," said Rachit Arora, student, St Stephen's College.
When questioned, Sudarshan Pathak, Coordinating Director, Delhi University Sports Council (DUSC), who is serving on an advisory basis at present, said: "I have no powers to summon a meeting or concerned people as I my tenure is over and I'm serving on an advisory basis. As for the grounds taken up as CWG training venues, the audit process is going on and will be over only by March. Colleges can have their own sports tournaments independently."u00a0
u00a0However, physical education teachers have been going time and again to the sports council as well as the vice-chancellor. "There are no permanent members in the sports council. The administration has totally paralysed and there is complete mismanagement of things. No motivation, no sports culture and more so after CWG. However, the only recent meeting called by the V-C brings some hope for sports events after exams are over in January," said MP Sharma, Director of Sports, Hansraj College.u00a0
u00a0"We have been waiting for some activity to happen in the sports council. But the sports scene is dead at the campus as of now. May be a few inter-college tournaments can take place in January after the semester exams," said Beenu Gupta, Assistant Prof Physical Education, Kirori Mal College.u00a0
