Gurcharan Singh, who was lying on bed for the past 25 years, passed away yesterday at his Mohali residence, Karnail Singh Peer Mohammed, President of All India Sikh Students Federation, said here on Tuesday.

Mohammed said it was unfortunate that the Punjab government failed to give any justice to Gurcharan who was attacked by a mob allegedly led by Sajjan Kumar threw him in a burning vehicle in Uttam Nagar colony during the 1984 anti-Sikh riots in Delhi.

Mohammed said the victim struggled for getting compensation of Rs two lakh. He said that the federation took up his case and only then the CBI recorded his statement in April 2008 in Sajjan Kumar's case.
