A 26-year-old BPO employee narrowly escaped from getting killed by her husband by using her presence of mind.

The relationship soured soon, as Ravindra used to have frequent fights with Suman over trivial issues. When the problem becomes unbearable, Suman moved to her parents' house.
On December 13, while Suman was waiting for her office cab, Ravindra approached her and forced her into an autorikshaw stating that he need to talk to her. With much resistance, Suman agreed to accompany him to their house in Wilson garden.
The shocker
Ravindra began crying and creating a fuss, and accused her of dumping him, and asking her to give him a chance. Shocked with the development, Suman tried to escape with some excuse. Ravindra became wild and gulped a few tablets saying he wanted to commit suicide.
He ransacked the house and broke a few bottles. Suddenly, he stabbed Suman 's neck with a glass shard, and said that he would kill her and then kill himself.
Ravindra stabbed her a second time on the neck, for which Suman began to plead and said that she would live with him.
Her words had a calming effect on Ravindra, who agreed to take her to the hospital. He took Suman to the Agadi hospital for first aid and then to the Commando Hospital where she reported the incident to the doctor. Based on the information, the Wilson garden police rushed to the hospital and rescued her.
Suman was later sent to her parent's house. The police are on the lookout for Ravindra who is said to be absconding. "We have taken up a case against Ravindra for wrongful restrain and assault, and are investigating," said an official from the Wilson Garden police station.u00a0Suman was not available for comment.
New headways in Surekha murder
The South division police who are investigating the murder case of a BPO employee are on the lookout of a man who visited Payal Surekha on the day of her murder.
According to the police, the man who is middle aged, had gone to the previous flat to meet Payal and then came to her apartment where she had shifted recently.
The man confirmed it was her apartment with the security and even with the neighbors before knocking the door, said the police.
The police who questioned the security staff said that he managed to obtain a photo album from Payal's residence. "This means the visitor who is suspected to have slit Payal's throat, is known to the family," said a police officer adding that even there was no forceful entry.
"We have begun questioning a few people, including her (victim's) husband," Sonia Narang, DCP, South Division. Payal was found murdered with her throat slit in her one-bedroom apartment on Friday.
JCP (Crime) Alok Kumar said, "We are verifying all relevant data. We believe we are on the right track and will crack the case."
Surekha's laptop has been seized to scrutinise her e-mails, sources said, adding the mobile phone of Mishra, a native of Orissa and who still holds a Cuttack number, has also been confiscated.
Surekha, a resident of Assam, had married Mishra about five years ago after falling in love with him.u00a0 Mishra, a gym instructor, is currently unemployed.
