A common passion brought together four jolly youngsters in Mizoram one autumn evening in 2005. They formed Boomarang, a rock band to represent the voice and narrate stories of young minds and hearts. Nearly half a decade later, Boomarang has shaped up to be one of the most popular rock bands in the country and they are here this week to entertain Bangaloreans with some foot thumping music and hard hitting lyrics.

"It's always great performing in Bangalore. The best part is that the people here are crazy about music," says Boom, the guitarist of Boomarang.

At present, the band features Atea on vocals, Boom on guitar, Joshua on bass and Rosangliana on drums. The name of the band is a spin-off on the word Boomerang. The literal meaning of Boomerang is a statement or action that backfires. Initially these young men were unable to decide what to call themselves. However, one day just before a concert the word "boomarang" flashed across their minds and thus the band got its name.

"It was a name that was tagged unequivocally. It was precise and voted by the members. We liked calling ourselves by this name. We could identify with it," Boom says.

The band, which is deeply inspired by many Indian fellow bands like Scribe, Skinny Alley, Magdalene, Joint Family, Soul Mate, Junkyard Groove and more, describe their own sound as junk rock. Their music is a perfect blend of jazz, funk, punk and blues expressing the joys and woes of youngsters and their lives in a politically disturbed North Eastern India. The band plans to play only originals for this concert as it believes in impromptu performances.

According to Boom every gig they play whether small or big, they play with all their heart and soul. "It's up to the audience to interact with us and get the best out of us," he says.u00a0

So if you are somebody, who believes in bonding with musicians through their music, then catching the Boomarang live is a must. Poignant, abstract and powerful, the band is sure to steal your heart.
