Sisters allege laser burns during hair reduction treatment, being made to lie naked while male staffers roamed; salon refunds fees, calls them habitual blackmailers

THEY wanted to look like Katrina Kaif or Deepika Padukone, but ended up burning their fingers, literally,

on beauty.

Sisters Divya and Anubha Parikh (both name changed), aged 31 and 27 respectively, alleged that they had paid Rs 70,000 each for hair reduction therapy only to come back with laser burns.

They also alleged that they were stripped and made to lie naked for the treatment while male employees at the salon's Vasant Vihar and Defence Colony branches roamed freely in the room.

The salon, Clinic Dermatech, refunded Rs 66,000 on Monday while calling the whole thing an elaborate "blackmail". "We are fair complexioned and wanted to have smooth skin like Katrina. But instead of reducing unwanted hair, the clinic scalded our hands and legs during the laser hair removal treatment," Divya told MiD DAY. "They have no expert. All the girls are house-trained. They had promised us to engage a doctor but as she had left the job, we are operated by these girls."

However, clinic officials told MiD DAY they had hundreds of high-profile clients but no one had any complaints.

"We have doctors and laser experts. Also, technically we are very strong. Our clients include VIPs, celebrities and bureaucrats," said a clinic spokesperson, wishing not to be named. "They are trying to fool us as they have fooled other clinics in the past. They were misusing our offers. We do touch-ups within 10 days after a session but they wanted to come after a monthu00a0sufficient time for hair to re-growu00a0in a hope to get a full session."

She added: "When we had decided to return their money the first time, they declined and wanted to complete the session. They signed a new agreement and disclaimer." This time around, however, the two girls
accepted the money.
