The victim is a seven-year-old student of St. Joseph School in Nelamangala in the outskirts of Bengaluru.

She was taking private coaching from this teacher, Latha for nearly one year. The tutor is reportedly giving private coaching to students for the last 15 years.

On Tuesday, when she went for her class, the teacher got enraged because she had not done her homework and allegedly beat her black and blue with a leather belt.

The girl returned home crying and with bruises all over her back which is when her father decided to lodge a formal complaint with the police.

However, sources say that the tutor had the habit of beating students on a regular basis. This was also confirmed by her parents who said that their daughter often used to complain about beatings but they did not take it that seriously.

The teacher is on the run.
