City-based lens lover Sandeep Biswas captures all that decks up Delhi

Delhi is eclectic, electric, eccentric. Whether it is the Commonwealth chaos or the Metro mess, the city sleeps, eats, breathes urbanisation. And the objects that define this phenomenon aren't always killer cranes and dangerous excavations, but stuff we see everyday. Photog Sandeep Biswas works his vision.

Water wows: Mineral water bottles lying in a shop

Sandeep's pictures, shot over a period of one year, capture the soul of the sin city in all its starkness. No frills or thrills. "My work is an inspiration from everything real that happens here. There is so much happening in terms of products, and we have been taken over this new wave of modernisation. I have seen Delhi progress from just any other city to this modernised and urban place that we all live in. My images are more or less a metaphor," delves the artist.

Lights, camera, action
If a truck loaded with funnels symbolises all that is product-driven, bottles of mineral water depict that you need to pay through your nose even for the most natural resources required for survival. Similarly, chandelier lights are juxtaposed with bulbs so as to show how lights are no more about rays but a status raise. Mannequins make you realise how you've become little different from them. "If you notice the city around, somewhere, everything is connected to each other. My work is like that. You can see reflectionsu00a0 of buildings and human faces in it, too," signs off Sandeep. And you thought all that was stuff for the kabaadi?
