Nashik: A 10-year-old school boy died after being mauled by a leopard in Niphad taluka of the district, police said today.
Vicky Shantaram Pithe, a resident of Chapadgaon and studying in class 4th, was attacked by the leopard yesterday when he along with his sister took their cow for grazing in a field, an officer at Saykheda police station said.
After the leopard attacked the boy, his sister raised an alarm following which villagers rushed to the field.
The boy, who sustained serious injuries in the attack by the feline, was rushed to Niphad rural hospital where he died last evening, the police officer said.
Later, forest officials also rushed to the spot, he added.
