Civic body files complaint against garbage van drivers

Nashik: The Nashik Municipal Corporation (NMC) has filled complaint against eight drivers of garbage pick up vans for allegedly refusing to pick up waste in the city.


The complaint have been filled at the Bhadrakali police station against the drivers of the garbage pick up vans as they refused to deploy the vans on route and hence activity of lifting garbage was severely affected, Municipal Commissioner Pravin Gedam said last night.


Meanwhile, huge heaps of garbage were seen here, which caused problems to the citizens on Diwali day.


The drivers of the these vans had called a strike to press for various demands. After the civic body assured to look into their demands, the strike was called off yesterday, a civic official said.

However, there was no removal of garbage today, he said.
